Unnamed Section 1
editThe list of Principals doesn't seem to fit with the school's own Web page; could someone either explain the discrepancy or correct the list? Thanks. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Unnamed Section 2
editThe school has a branch and a main, both ruled by different principal. And the list didn't state which school is it. That explain why. -- YC, Alumus of cchb
- Could you sort it out? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:33, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Coincidence?
editAny relation to Chiang Chung Cheng? -- Миборовский 06:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Clean-up of School History Section
editThe school history contains alot of unnecessary small info such as principals which is reflected in the Principals section already. It should stay within the scope of the school development and milestones instead of focusing much on administrative matters.Lyg 2001 (talk) 07:39, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Reason of Move of Article: Chung Cheng High School (Main) from Chung Cheng High School
editHi all,
I have moved the article (Chung Cheng High School) that described on Chung Cheng High School (Main) here as: 1) this name is the official name of the institution, that distincted it from Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) 2) The old name picks on the same issue of ambulation of whether it refers to Chung Cheng High School (Main) or Chung Cheng High School (Yishun). 3) Since the article talked mainly on Chung Cheng High School (Main), it should not have merged with Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) as one article under Chung Cheng High School, as the schools functions on its own led by 2 different principals. The only relationship is that they share the same heritage and is affiliated. Putting it together will only confuse the readers and cause inaccurate information of the 2 schools (especially on CCHY since the article mainly stated on CCHMS), as pointed out earlier by Mel Etitis.
Thus, this user sincerely seek the understanding of the move of article, and hopes the articles can be improved further to reflect the school details with more detail and accuracy. Thanks! Lyg 2001 (talk) 08:15, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

Instances of missing information
editHi there, some of the details written does not convey the exact meaning as the sources.
For instance: [1] The school was indeed named after the late Chang Kai Shek, but the details missed out the main motivation for the naming as "Chung Cheng" while protrayed the former reason as the main intention.
Also many details are unsupported and not organised into appropriate sections.
p.s.: I can't do major changes and sourcing as on a very tight schedule... so do pardon me if it may seems too commentary. Lyg 2001 (talk) 11:16, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
Requested move 25 September 2016
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. All good ideas were forwarded in this discussion! Thank you, Lemongirl942, for your volunteer efforts! For now, I see no reason why the moved title can't be redirected to the new name. (non-admin closure) Paine u/c 16:42, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
Chung Cheng High School → Chung Cheng High School (Main) – Chung Cheng High School (Main) (CCHMS in short), is the official distinguished name of the institution itself, which was adopted in 1947 to differentiate it from its branch school (Chung Cheng High School (Yishun)) since both affiliated schools (despite under different administrations) are still using the same school family name. The official name, CCHMS, is reflected on its official school website [2], as well as educational and street directories. [3],[4],[5]. Thus, it would be fair for the article name "Chung Cheng High School (Main)" to be used instead of "Chung Cheng High School" which brings up ambiguity to the subject. Strictly speaking, article name "Chung Cheng High School" should only be used to refer to the institution between 1939 to 1947, that is before Chung Cheng High School (Branch) was set up. This considerations must be put in place in the naming of this article Lyg 2001 (talk) 02:05, 25 September 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. GeoffreyT2000 (talk, contribs) 02:33, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

- Ah, just saw this. This is a bit complicated as the main school is often simply referred to as "Chung Cheng High School". I don't have a lot of time now so I will look up later and research on this a bit. I might need to visit the library as well so I would appreciate if this is relisted once instead of being closed. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Tentative Support. Note that after the move is completed, Chung Cheng High School should continue to redirect to Chung Cheng High School (Main) (at least provisionally). --Lemongirl942 (talk) 01:20, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- It is true that the current school (as given in this article) is actually called Chung Cheng High School (Main). However due to the previous usage of Chung Cheng High School to refer to this school, a lot of the incoming links will need to be updated. Till that time it will be helpful to keep Chung Cheng High School as a redirect to Chung Cheng High School (Main). I will help and clean up the links gradually. After that it can be discussed whether to change it to an
DAB pagearticle about the original undivided school. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 01:24, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Oppose. As I understand it, the "(Main)" is a disambiguator used by and within the school itself, to distinguish it from the other one at Yishuan. However, from what Lemongirl942 says, there is no proposal to change the primary topic at the moment, and I think the "Main" school probably is still primary over the Yishuan branch, making this a WP:TWODABS scenario. It's also primary by page views, and dominates the Google results. That being the case, we do not need to supply a disambiguator for Wikipedia, and the question is whether "Chung Cheng High School (Main)" is actually the WP:COMMONNAME for the school over Chung Cheng High School. Looking at third party reliable sources, I don't believe it is.[6],[7],[8] etc. just use the simple concise name, not the one with (Main) on the end. The current status quo seems fine. — Amakuru (talk) 11:39, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Amakuru: This is a bit more nuanced. See a quote from Straits Times
It has two campuses: Chung Cheng High School is split into two branches, Chung Cheng High School (Main) and Chung Cheng High School (Yishun).
In August 1947, to cope with the increased student population, part of the school moved into a new school building in Goodman Road. The school located at 40-56 Goodman Road is named as Chung Cheng High School (Main).
The old school at Kim Yam road continued to function and was renamed Chung Cheng High School (Branch) and subsequently relocated to 11 Yishun Street 61 and became known as Chung Cheng High School (Yishun).
- You can also read a similar account here and here
- "Chung Cheng High School" doesn't really have a primary topic. It is usually used to either refer to both branches of the school together or more often, the orignal school before 1960s.
- My intent here is to eventually convert the Chung Cheng High School to an article about the original school (pre 1960s) which talks about the history in detail and then links to the main article of the successor schools - Chung Cheng High School (Main) and Chung Cheng High School (Yishun). --Lemongirl942 (talk) 13:20, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Btw, this link which you cited is actually about a similarly named school in Taiwan, not Singapore. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 13:22, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Ooops! That was a bit careless of me... Well I'll strike my oppose for now, since it sounds like my assumptions were perhaps false. — Amakuru (talk) 13:30, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- No problem! I guess I confused the situation as well by mention the "DAB page" thing. That was my mistake actually. Anyway, I have struck that above. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 13:38, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Name
editSo was the school named after Chiang Kai-Shek or not? The Name section says it was named after him in the first part, then goes on to say it was a coincidence in the second part. Orangewarning (talk) 05:41, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
