Powers and abilities

edit

I have changed the powers and abilities section back yet again. This paragraph 'When she was in the care of the Charmed Ones she displayed the ability to sense incoming demonic attacks, as when she started screaming and demons intent on capturing her shimmered in.' was incorrect and was removed.

Christy was in telepathic contact with the demons, something already stated as a function of her telepathic powers in the section, and this is why she knew when they were going to attack. She did not have any precognitive abilities.

Once again, Christy's telepathic powers were not offensive.

And though she was able to move ONE fireball in the final episode, this was in contradiction to the previous episodes where it was established that she could not move fire, only ignite it.

Christy's power's of firestarting at the end was over infalated. She was only able to create a fireball that big due to Billie's help through projection. --Jessnotdean 01:15, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Really a Warlock?

edit

I do understand warlocks on charmed are Evil Witches... but two things make me think she isn't... 1) Christy can't blink. 2) She never thought she was evil. Christy thought she was the only good one in the end; she wasn't evil herself, just brainwashed.

Fair use rationale for Image:Christy.jpg

edit

Image:Christy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WikiProject Horror

edit

I have included this character in the Wikiproject Horror as I believe she fulfills Kim Newman's idea on how to decide if something belongs to horror, as he suggests that horror fiction suggests "a world that is scarier or where more bad things happen than you would normally expect", considering the fact that she was held captivity by demons for fifteen years (from the age of 7 to the age of 22) and experienced significant psychological damage due to this. If people from the Wikiproject, do not believe this character is appropriate for WP:HORROR, then I would be more than happy to discuss this further. Aoba47 (talk) 22:30, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

As I'm not familiar with this show, is the series horror related? Because, by this logic, it sounds like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White would be considered a horror related theme as they are also under spells that cause them problems. But it sounds more like a Fantasy based thing. I'm still not 100% familiar with this program, but I rarely hear it discussed next to American Horror Story or Tales from the Cryptkeeper when it comes to horror theme television. Could you expand on this @Aoba47:? Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:51, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Andrzejbanas: I am honestly fine on either decision you make with this (whether the article remains in the Wikiproject Horror or not), and I appreciate your message as Wikipedia can be a wonderful source for discussion. This show is definitely geared more towards fantasy (particularly in its later seasons where it became a lot more campy and light-hearted in its tone and choice of subject), and it would definitely not be compared to either American Horror Story or Tales from the Cryptkeeper in any way shape or form. I think the question of what qualifies as horror or not can be pretty tricky as there are multiple definitions of horror in use, and it is a somewhat abstract concept. I put this article in the Wikiproject Horror as I felt that the specific character and her storyline fit with the Wikiproject, rather than the show as a whole. I remember that we had a similar discussion on the talk page for Kyra, and you brought up Kim Newman's definition of horror fiction. I feel that the show was definitely trying to go for a serious, and horror-based approach for this character in particular in that: she was kidnapped and held captivity by demons for fifteen years (from the age of 7 to the age of 22) and experienced significant psychological damage to the point where she could never led a "normal" life. I think that is what makes it a little bit different than Sleeping Beauty or Snow White, as both of those characters recovered and had a "happy" ending, while Christy is portrayed as irredeemable and beyond repair. And just for clarification purposes, Christy doesn't have a spell put on her (we are never told exactly what happened to her for all of those years, outside of the Stockholm syndrome). Again, I am fine with either way the article goes, in terms of if it stays or is removed from the Wikiproject Horror, but I just wanted to let you know that I approached the decision in terms of the specific character rather than the show as a whole. I also was somewhat influenced by the categorization of Cordelia Chase in the Wikiproject. I apologize for the message running so long, and I look forward to hearing your feedback (or that from other members of the Wikiproject). I am just happy to get the chance to work on this article. Hmm. Well despite her capture in the story, I think the article suggests that these Characters or stock characters for WP:HORROR are from Horror fiction. I could make a post to get more discussion from it. The article is good, great even, but I'm just not sure if it should apply for the project still. Might ask the crew at WP:HORROR to see if I can get anyone else in. Andrzejbanas (talk) 22:48, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Andrzejbanas: Thank you for your response (and for your praise of the article as I am planning on working to improve the article further and maybe even put it up for FAC in the very very distant future). I appreciate that you took the time to discuss this, and I can understand your disagreement with putting this as a part of the WikiProject. I could be completely wrong with putting this under the WP:HORROR so I look forward to hear from you and other members from the WikiProject about further thoughts on this. I will respect and learn from this, either way the decision is made, as I am always trying to be a better contributor on here. Aoba47 (talk) 23:43, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Andrzejbanas: Since the Wikiproject does not seem to be very active, I can just remove it from this page if you still feel it necessary as I do not want cause you (or the Wikiproject as a whole) any inconvenience for something minor. Aoba47 (talk) 17:11, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's not super active, but I figured I'd give it a shot. There's no major inconvenience, just organizing it out. I'm leaning towards removal, so if you are good with it, let's do it. Great job on the article either way! :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:44, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you again for taking the time to discuss this with me, and good luck with WikiProject :-). I have removed this article from the WP, as I agree with your points. And thank you again. I still needs a lot more work, but I appreciate the support! Aoba47 (talk) 18:46, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
