This reads like a promo for Galvin and all his "great work", but the fact remains that under his leadership, the company floundered. The semiconductor product sector was split off into a separate company called Freescale, essentially because the company was too big for this guy to get his head around. Years later, Google, Apple, and several others are going the other direction via acquisitions, toward the vertical integration that Motorola already enjoyed and could've used to its unique advantage in the early 2000s, if it had been better managed. While I'm espousing my own POV here, which is not directly suitable for inclusion in an article, I think it's a common view.
