Book Illustration
editDoes anyone know where an illustration of this character can be found from Quention Blake's drawing of the novel? It should be added... JackOfHearts 00:42, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Charlies Hometown
editi remember the news caster saying something about the location of the area the he reports in is the united kingdom, most characters are English but that channel could be broadcasted in other places, is this were Charlie lives?
- Charlie's home town is not named in the books, nor is his country directly referred to. However in "The Great Glass Elevator", Charlie and his family demonstrate an intimate knowledge of American history (in the passage where Grandma Georgina's age is disputed), and throughout "The Great Glass Elevator" the family observe deference to the President of the USA as if he were their own head of state. In the books, therefore, there is more evidence to support the idea that Charlie's home town is in the USA, but this is not absolutely specified, possibly to allow children to consider Charlie a native of their own country no matter where in the world the reader comes from. Brother?
editI seem to remember an episode of "Keeping Up Appearances", where Emmit and Elizabeth mention that Richard had a brother Charles who was in the candy business. Was this coincidence or a direct reference? Alan Zatkow (talk) 08:15, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
