User:Laurel Lodged wishes to change this article to list Boyd as being from "Fingal", an administrative county created in 1994 and expected to be abolished by 2016. Boyd was born in County Dublin, 119 years before Fingal existed, and died in Canada 52 years before Fingal existed. Does anyone agree with Laurel Lodged that this was a sportsperson "from Fingal"? Agree, he was from County Dublin not Fingal. Also Fingal is not being abolished in 2016, current local government reforms do not propose any changes to the Greater Dublin area councils. Snappy (talk) 22:21, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Agree from County Dublin, administrative counties should never be used for where an Irish person is from should be one of the 32 counties Finnegas (talk) 22:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
comment I think this discussion has very little to do with Cecil Boyd, and it goes to the broader issue of - if we categorize X by county in Ireland, do we take into account these new counties or not? I'd suggest starting a broader discussion elsewhere to pose the question at scale - rather than dukeing it out, one article at a time, which is silly. I've re-added him to the cat, pending the category discussions (as this cat has been nominated for deletion, so should not be emptied.). May I suggest we take this discussion elsewhere, to come to consensus on whether such categories should exist at all? If they exist, they should be populated appropriately - if they don't, then it's not an issue.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 23:03, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I believe the edit warring should cease on this page, and the article should remain classified according to Fingal until the category deletion discussion completes.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 23:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
