Close connection and advertising campaign

edit
  • Hi, DGG! I reviewed the draft and checked the articles. In my humble opinion, the page looks like a part of an advertising campaign for a local politician, who aspires to become a mayor in the next year elections. I wouldn't be surprised that this is a close connection of the SPA here since the account is mostly about Cara Spencer - starting with preparation of other pages for her and then submission of the article.2601:1C0:CB01:2660:248A:5C7C:427A:A6A9 (talk) 20:16, 14 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
but still it's not exclusively promotional enough for G11 speedy. DGG ( talk ) 03:19, 15 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Page deletion

edit

"Page deletion The deletion of a page based on a deletion discussion should only be done when there is consensus to delete. Therefore, if there is no rough consensus, the page is kept and is again subject to normal editing, merging, or redirecting as appropriate. In certain circumstances, poorly-attended deletion discussion may be treated as proposed deletions (PRODs)."STLPublicI (talk) 08:37, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@STLPublicI: Hi. While there might not be consensus on whether to delete, the closer explicitly stated that the consensus isn't that we keep that page, so the consensus was to not keep.
However, from the closer's word, there is no prejudice to making a draft. Also, if the subject does win the election, there is also no prejudice against restoring and working on the article. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 09:01, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

aseleste - That is not the rules of deletion discussion. The rules (pasted above) clearly state "The deletion of a page based on a deletion discussion should only be done when there is consensus to delete. Therefore, if there is no rough consensus, the page is kept and is again subject to normal editing, merging, or redirecting as appropriate." I have filed a dispute that this page was deleted improperly and I just wanted to notify you as the one who deleted it. Thanks! STLPublicI (talk) 18:34, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Municipal elections

edit

aseleste - Hello.

Does Wikipedia take positions in municipal elections? By deleting the page of Cara Spencer it has effectively endorsed her opponent Tishaura Jones.

Alderman Shane Cohn, who has endorsed Tishaura Jones, still has his Wikipedia page up so it seems like this was a concerted effort to keep Saint Louis voters from knowing more about Cara Spencer.

So does Cara Spencer's Opponent:

@Quackmaster: and @STLPublicI:: The position of English Wikipedia may differ from other editions of Wikipedia. The positions may also differ based on the race or ethnicity of the mayoral candidates or council members. No one seems to be disputing Lewis E. Reed's article, but many people are disputing the article about Andrew Jones (even though Jones is running against Cori Bush in the election for 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in Missouri). I'm not sure. I suspect Wikipedia editors are skewed toward young white males in Europe, Canada, and the United States, and that "notability" depends on their gut feel. -- RobLa (talk) 01:08, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
