editI expanded the article translating the spanish version of the same also made by myself, as native of Cabimas I have first hand knowledge of its affairs. However, I have to thank the people who contributed to the spanish version, with data I didn't had, like current sport teams or protestant churches. I tried as much as posible of being fair and not to give a biased version, so I just translated the contributions to others. I had to add some explanations to the english version, due to the probable lack of knowledge about customs and traditions of Cabimas of the reader, derived from ancient spanish traditions for instance Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict of Palermo can look familiar to spanish or latin american catholic people, but must seem alien to other audiences. I reduced some coments made by other people in order to be fair, I didn't sided with any political or religious group because is wikipedia policy so I tried to hide my own sympaties. I also tried to be polite when refering to other races or groups, I don't know an english polite for to say black african refering to saint Benedict, he is the most beloved saint in my town, I just was stating a fact. Or to the ancient aborigins of Cabimas also refered as native Americans, they belonged to the ancient Arawak languaje and culture and where the inhabitants of the area before the arrival of the spanish Cistercians Monks. I am aware of the gaps in the history of Cabimas stated, this is because some facts are still discussed and are currently matter of scholar, archeological and political debate.

A personal oponion not to be placed in the article is: even when Cabimas was first populated by native americans, there aren't any nowadays. Spanish conquerors, black africans slaves and native americans mixed and interbreeded for centuries, so we have a mixed heritage and culture, so I can't side with anyone, because nobody in Cabimas is either full white, black or red. This mixture enriched our cultured and made us the ones we are. We celebrate a black saint alongside with a white virgin and we have lots of indian toponims. Indian culture also permeated the popular practices of whicthcraft, the food, the languaje, and others. So I can't say the spanish invaded, murdered or slavished us, because we are also spanish, we speak spanish , our religions are christian and our culture is latin american. I can't deny the black neither, the dances, the drums, the joy of a people and even the beauty of our women. So we are a multicultural openminded mixed people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.1.171.141 (talk) 21:00, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
