Bubba Gump! Okay, I have to admit, I am not a big movie watcher but I am a shrimp lover. So while walking on the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta, the new Bubba Gump had its grand opening. The movie Forrest Gump playing on the screen, a make-shift bar on the Federal Zone on the beach, (you know the whole big works) then all the sudden a small crowd surrounded this one man. Everyone taking his picture, talking to him etc. Being 3 feet away, and an American, I said, "who is this guy?" Why is everyone taking his photo etc? I was told it was the guy who played Forrest Gump; "You mean Tom Hanks?" I kept staring at the guy not reconizing one of America's favorite actors. Well I thought, maybe I just don't get out much. So two weeks go by and I decide to try out the Bubba Gumps for dinner. Only to have the waitress tell me that wasn't Tom Hanks. I said, deceiption was used? Yes, it was she softly said, it was just another actor. By the way, the food was over priced and a step above fast food seafood. Service was good.
The quote relating to the CEO is from the movie, and is likely to be false. If not, perhaps it should be noted that he's quoting from the movie. -210.227.0.250 03:41, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Bubba Gump - The Peak Hong Kong
editThe Bubbu Gump restaurant in Hong Kong is possibly the most spectacular of all places to eat. Situated within the Peak Plaza high on the hillside over-looking the city, sitting in the window seats, you enjoy amazing views over towering buildings and harbour. Combine this with the amazing ride on the Peak Tram and a walk through Hong Kong Park you have the perfect way to enjoy shrimp cuisine.Jeffange 10:57, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Company vs. Corporation
editDoes anybody know why the restaurant is called the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company instead of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Corporation, as it is known in the movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.52.50.154 (talk) 19:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know for sure but I'd guess that corporation has some specific legal meaning and the real life version doesn't fit. Danikat (talk) 22:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- If you had waited 5 more weeks, you could have answered the question on its anniversary. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:20, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- The parent company is Viacom, Inc. In the movie, Forrest Gump called his firm the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, so for the real store chain, presumably that's just a title and not necessarily an indication of its legal status. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:19, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- I linked the two words for anyone who wants to read more about the subject. In a nutshell, a company is a business organization, and a corporation is a type of company that has a particular legal definition. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:22, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Truth in advertising?
editThe restaurant chain's logo, at least as it appears on a T-shirt that I have seen, says that the Company was established in 1975. How does this square with truth-in-advertising laws?
