edit1. Is Brinker International a larger employer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area than American Airlines? Southwest Airlines? Safeway (Tom Thumb?) That doesn't seem likely. Can someone check the Dallas newspapers' rankings of businesses? Or, perhaps, the Fortune rankings? Best I can find, AMR (American Airlines) has 88,000 employees worldwide, and Brinker has 102,000 worldwide -- but I'd wager that AMR's 24,000 or so in the Dallas area are more than Brinker's. I don't think Brinker has 25% of its employees concentrated in Dallas -- the management of the company is much leaner than that. [Later addition] The Wikipedia entry on the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex lists Brinker at #10 in large empoyers, with 10,000 employees in the area; AMR is first with 22,000, followed by Wal-Mart, Texas Health Resources, Lockheed-Martin Aeronautics, Baylor Health Care, AT&T, Verizon Communications, Texas Instruments, and Albertson's. Albertson's recently pulled out of Texas (again), so Brinker may be #9 (go see: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Dallas/Fort_Worth_Metroplex)
2. The company's rather frequent purchases and spin-offs should be chronicled, I think -- there are few other sites that keep track. But care needs to be taken to keep things accurate. Did Brinker actually own Taco Cabana?
3. Norman Brinker's genius in creating Steak & Ale and Bennigan's deserves chronicling fully, if not in this entry, then in a separate one. His comeback after a catastrophic accident while playing polo is important to the history of the company, I think.

Update: Brinker is #55 in employment in the DFW area, with, 3,300 employees. Wal-mart is #1, American Airlines is #2. Here is the 2007 chart from the Dallas Morning News: http://www.dallasnews.com/cgi-bin/2007/scorecard_tables.cgi
4. Edit "History: Turning History section into prose" at 14:02, on 15 May 2024 by Coconutshrimp, size 9,409 bytes, left in the old history it intended to replace, and added two repeated citations (ie, sources 8-9 are the same as sources 10-11). I don't know if prose is an inherently better way to present this information, but having both is repetitive. Suggest that one of these history paragraphs be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 57.140.108.63 (talk) 15:14, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:ChilisSmall.png
editImage:ChilisSmall.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
