This article attacks the subject more than it describes what it is. If I knew anything about Bosonic string theory I'd fix it! Savonnn (talk) 05:59, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
I added some facts about bosonic strings but I feel my wording is clumsy. I think someone ought to rewrite it. - sigfpe 2:51 PM Jan 31 2006
Somebody had added a reference "Bosonic String theory and its relationship to Sacred Geometry, Kabbalah, Sri-Yantra, I-Ching, Acupuncture,E8E8 symmetry group, Tertactys and Pythagoras." I will not give my personal opinion on the material concerned, but will point out that it is not considered generally accepted fact among the string theory community and is thus inappropriate in an encyclopedia article. Reference removed. -- R, 10/09/07
the section which reads "Nevertheless, bosonic string theory remains a very useful "toy model" to understand many general features of perturbative string theory, and string theory textbooks usually start with the bosonic string." - is offensive and should be reworded or removed. Just use the wording 'useful model.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.220.122.85 (talk) 19:25, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- So... where is Bosonic string theory? I see a problem section but no description or anything useful for understanding it. If this is supposed to be the start of string theory, shouldn't it have the most information? If I could grasp the immense complexities of quantum theory and mechanics, I'd help out. But likelihood is I don't get jack about this.'''Aryeonos''' (talk) 21:06, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Is the "Mathematics" section for real? Or is it just a string of gibberish words strung together? It's really hard to tell. 2601:2:5200:9714:28B5:9302:31BF:CB59 (talk) 23:42, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Restructured Mathematics section
editI'm working on remaking this page from scratch, add a detailed explanation of the basics of the math of bosonic strings.
I'll write from the perspective of path-integral perturbation theory, the sum-over-genera and moduli space kind of stuff.
Ideally, we should also have a section for light-cone quantization and state counting, but I won't do that for now.
