editIf you ask Sir Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, or Jimmy Page they could tell you the importance of drummer Bobbie Clarke. No rocker played a double bass, hit the drums as hard or held the sticks the way rock drummers do today, before Clarke. But more importantly, he was a well known rock star in England and France with his own band, The Bobby Clarke Noise, and the beats Clarke played for the early rock songs in Europe have been copied over and over again by following generations of rock drummers. -- Lori--Loriannhart 02:52, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, maybe. But the current article, with virtually no references, citable sources etc, reads like a fansite. It needs a strong editorial approach to bring it in line. Hence {Wiki}, {Unreferenced} and {POV} tags added by me.
- The article refers to 'special pedals'. Playing double bass drums requires the same pedals as a single bass drum, it merely needs two of them. He certainly played double bass drums before Moon or Baker, this can be easily verified by comparing archive footage from 1961 against Moon and Bakers own accounts (it is well documented that they started playing double bass drums in 1966). The statement that 'No rocker (as oppossed to jazz drummer) played a double bass' (meaning two bass drums) before Clarke is difficult to verify (how many unknown drummers were never filmed or photographed?), but it is certainly true that no evidence of an earlier 'rocker' has ever been discovered playing double bass drums. Comments about the sticks and how hard he hit are purely anecdotal.
