Bob Vaughan's D.Sc. was not an honorary degree but an earned degree, just as a Ph.D. normally is. Such a degree is sometimes called a higher doctorate. The wording in the regulations for Ph.D. and D.Sc. is that former is awarded for "original research" whereas the latter is awarded for "highly original research". 68.49.110.139 (talk) 16:35, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
