Talk:Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health

PROD / Notability

edit

@DGG: proposed this page for deletion, saying "no indication of notability", possibly neglecting "editors are strongly encouraged to attempt to find sources for the subject in question and consider the possibility of existent sources if none can be found by a search" (at Wikipedia:Notability#Notability_is_based_on_the_existence_of_suitable_sources,_not_on_the_state_of_sourcing_in_an_article). @Phil Bridger: removed the tag, saying it needed discussion and that notability seemed likely. I have attempted to give an indication in the article of why it is notable. PJTraill (talk) 10:57, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Materials for improving article from people responsible for system

edit

I have corresponded with people currently responsible for the programme, as below; I find myself currently occupied by other things, and so make this available to anyone who wishes to take it further, especially since it has been tagged with {{refimprove}}. If anyone does, I hope they will respect the wish of Professor Britt (who is evidently unfamiliar with Wikipedia) to be given a chance to check the text.

Having created a Wikipedia article describing BEACH, I tried to expand it based on the announcement at http://sydney.edu.au/medicine/fmrc/beach/ .
There you are given as a contact person, and the web page http://sydney.edu.au/medicine/public-health/research/beach.php is given to access the resource.
When I try to access the latter link, I am redirected to the main page for research by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Is this a mistake?
I have tried the sydney.edu.au search function for BEACH with little success, but the full name threw up https://sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/our-research/research-centres/bettering-the-evaluation-and-care-of-health.html , which seems to me to be correct: am I right?

Thank you for creating a wikipedia page for the BEACH project. Unfortunately I see a couple of mistakes in the history of BEACH.
The best person to help with this was the Centre's Director and CI of the BEACH study, Professor Helena Britt.
Helena, could you please help Patrick create a summary of the project for Wikipedia?

Thank-you very much for your help; I am sorry to hear of the mistakes (I must have misunderstood the official pages) and I am glad of your suggestion that Professor Britt provide help.
Unless she wishes to edit Wikipedia herself (which she would be welcome to do, in the form of a Conflict of Interest Edit Request), she could point out the mistakes and send me links to the relevant publicly available documents.
The article is currently classified as a stub; someone raised a question as to its notability, which was quickly removed, as it seems clear that it has played an important role in Australian heath care and continues to be relevant. As a curious layman, I am not sure how much information is appropriate, but that can be discussed by other Wikipedians on the Talk Page of the article on the basis of an edit request or other information.

I find I do not have any attachment of your draft of the Wiki page for the BEACH project on any of the emails to which I have been copied in.
Could you please send me you draft so I can identify the major issues.
Many thanks for your interest in getting this correct!

Thank-you for your trouble; you can see the draft in Wikipedia itself at https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Bettering_the_Evaluation_and_Care_of_Health . But please do not edit it directly, except for “uncontroversial edits”, as I think Wikipedia would regard you as having a conflict of interest; instead you are welcome to mail me your suggestions or to make a “Conflict of Interest Edit Request”, proposing changes.
For your convenience, here is the body of the text as of writing this e-mail:

I have been through this draft with a fine-tooth comb, tracked changes in Word and added comments.
Please find attached. (see File:BEACH Comments by Professor Britt.png)
I hope this helps.
I would be very happy if you could pass the final draft version past me before publication.

Thank you very much, at a glance your comments look reasonably clear. When I have a little more time I shall come back to you with a suggested text and/or questions.
For now I have just corrected the main problems:

I look forward to seeing the final draft.
