editThe OED gives berry as a variant of bury, the form of byrig that you see in Salisbury &c. Cursory searching, however, doesn't seem to turn up many surviving examples in English placenames. Maybe Berry Castle, Somerset, or Berry Hill, Gloucestershire, but there's no etymology provided there. — LlywelynII 01:14, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
