editThe dates on this article seem to be inconsistent. The picture is labeled as a 1948 Bay Super V when the originating type (Beechcraft C53) was not introduced until 1953. It appears from the cited court case that Oakland Airmotive didn't enter the picture until 1958, and it is not known when David Paterson developed his initial conversion. Mliu92 (talk) 21:08, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Reading some more into it -- internet links (refer to external link at Beechcraft Historical Museum) state the conversion was developed by David Peterson (pilot for Sinclair Oil) c. 1955-56. The picture is most likely a 1958-vintage Super-V.
update: Reg N551B is SV113, which is one of the later Canada-built Super-Vs (c. 1962). The donor Beechcraft Bonanza may date back to 1948. Mliu92 (talk) 04:53, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
The story related in an earlier edit is actually quite interesting -- here the contributor is relating a first-hand account of the fate of SV116. Can I clean this up and add it to the "Specific Aircraft" section? Mliu92 (talk) 05:13, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I give you permission. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.183.60.182 (talk) 16:25, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
Specific Aircraft
editUsing this as a holding point until I can suss out more data:
- N2811V may be the Peterson-built "Skyline Super-V" prototype. It is closer in appearance to N617B/SV101 than later models as depicted in the article. See http://aviadejavu.ru/Site/Arts/Art5986.htm and http://www.aerofiles.com/_pa.html (entry for Peterson, David G., which states the use of Lycoming O-340 engines).
- N8409A was the aircraft depicted in the October 1960 issue of Flying. This is also potentially the prototype. See http://books.google.com/books?id=nnto98d-QNYC&pg=PA54#v=onepage&q&f=false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mliu92 (talk • contribs) 14:34, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- SV112 (N249C) has a picture available with questionable public domain rights. See http://www.westin553.net/ac04.htm
- N724B looks similar to the possible prototype N2811V and N617B/SV101(two windows on a side, instead of the three you see on N551B/SV113 and N3124V/SV109). Could this be SV102 or SV103? See http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/browse/IO.HTM

Super V / Super-V
editTo hyphen, or not to hyphen? The article is currently inconsistent, so I was going to standardize. Looking through the references, though, I see it referred to both ways. Flying Mag called it "Super-V". TCDS shows "Super V" in the header, but "Super-V" in the approval title and a note. "Super-V" seems better to me, is there a consensus?
