Which Canadian cities do or don't qualify for page moves
editThere is a list of cities this one is included which is discussing city page naming conventions. Please add your comments here in this regards. SriMesh | talk 18:26, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think that this page should be moved to Battleford, which is just a redirect. MacMed (talk) 22:33, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Merger proposal
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
It has been proposed to move the article Looting of Battleford into the history section of this article. Please comment here.
- Under what criteria? I think that the event covered by the "Looting" article is of broad signifigance to Western Canadian history, White-Native relations, etc. and is not just an interesting anecdote in the history of one town. --Kevlar (talk • contribs) 18:40, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Criteria Text - If a page is very short and is unlikely to be expanded within a reasonable amount of time, it often makes sense to merge it with a page on a broader topic.SriMesh | talk 02:15, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Time to close this after 2.5 years. Merged. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 12:56, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Expanding upon the bridges
editAs a result of a family debate - I've been searching the internet for hours trying to find out when the new bridge was constructed in North Battlefords. I am suprised there is not more coverage of the bridges in the wikipedia article - given that the bridges are very memorable.
I'm going to stop in North Battleford and try to gather facts .. but its christmas. Maybe they should be put into a separate bridge article ... Essentially,
Old Bridge: -When was it erected? (I think 1908ish) -Two lane or one lane? -When did it turn into a pedestrian only bridge.
New Bridge: When was the first span erected? When was the second span erected? (I think 2003ish) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yesurbius (talk • contribs) 01:37, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Dec 30 - received the following email from the Battlefords Tourism department:
The Bridge was built in the 1980's and the old bridge was closed at the same time the new one was opened. The reason the older iron bridge was closed is because it is unsafe for traffic to cross, although traffic does cross the first span of the bridge to Finlayson Island, the second part of the bridge is closed to all but foot traffic. Also the bridge that spans the North Saskatchewan River between Battleford and North Battleford is the longest bridge of its type in Saskatchewan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yesurbius (talk • contribs) 00:16, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Looting of Battleford
editI have re-created the page Looting of Battleford now that more information is available on-line. A separate page offers room for further expansion.-- Kayoty (talk) 06:56, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
