Rivalries

I think the whole "team rivalry" section is poorly written and shows lack of NPOV. I suggest removal or complete rewrite with historical background and sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.21.33.62 (talk) 16:55, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Team ownership

Regarding this edit: the chairman of the Braves organization is not the club's owner, although I imagine McGuirk acts as Liberty Media's representative to Major League Baseball. isaacl (talk) 23:10, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

MLB's recognition of the National Association as a major league

Hello, I believe my previous revision to the Atlanta Braves article (seen here) should be accepted. After all, Major League Baseball (MLB) does not officially recognize the National Association as a major league, as explained by MLB's official historian, John Thorn. So officially, MLB says the founding date for both the Braves and Chicago Cubs should be 1876. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 16:10, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

You want to throw out Braves' pre-MLB history simply because that's not MLB? This article covers all the Braves' history, not just the MLB history. The pre-1876 years seem like relevant background to me and would not likely be covered elsewhere. -Fnlayson (talk) 16:30, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
MLB doesn't recognize the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players (or National Association) as a major league. As such, Wikipedia should reflect that fact in the Atlanta Braves article. Officially speaking, the Braves franchise has only existed since 1876. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:53, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
The article is not solely about the MLB franchise, but the entire team history, including its existence prior to the National League. isaacl (talk) 00:11, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
"The Braves and the Chicago Cubs are the National League's two remaining charter franchises." Not true since MLB does not officially recognize the National Association as the National League. The Cubs and the Reds are the other remaining charter teams of the NL. 130.76.112.15 (talk) 17:40, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Cincinnati Reds

My edits are correct according to baseball history, the Braves were originally the Cincinnati Red Stockings and in fact the first professional baseball team and to revert the changes back is lying to people and denying history.Sportsguru1987 (talk) 23:10, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Please provide reliable published sources to support your claim per WP:RS. Add them here, not in the article, and other editors will evaluate the claims. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 23:16, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Infobox Template

@JDDJS: & @BilCat:, to avoid more reverts I thought I'd place this here. First of all, thanks for explaining your change. I did review BRD, but no changes were made the the template to account for all the separate president positions. Your current edit shows three presidents and doesn't really differentiate between Derek Schiller and Mike Plant even though they have different positions. The template needs to be updated to support these changes. Until that happens the infobox is confusing as it stands. Nemov (talk) 01:15, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

After further reviewing their job descriptions, Schiller is the president of the team while Plant is president of the real estate company that runs the parks. Therefore, only Schiller needs to be listed. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 02:00, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Derek Schiller

I've created a draft article at Draft:Derek Schiller. Schiller is the current president of the Braves baseball operation. There's plenty of coverage of him, just have to write it out. If anyone wishes to contribute please feel free. Thanks! Nemov (talk)
