The result of the move request was: page moved as Orderinchaos explains. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 14:32, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- As this was an uncontroversial move, once we had a source to say for sure it was so, I moved it. The original name is a redirect to the new one. Orderinchaos 13:26, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
It appears that the traditional owners have chosen a new name for the community, so I'm proposing the name change to be either:
Bardi, Western Australia to Ardyaloon
or Bardi, Western Australia to Ardyaloon, Western Australia
Any thoughts? Hughesdarren (talk) 13:39, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Is it at http://www.ga.gov.au/place-name/ yet? would be my first question... SatuSuro 13:43, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- its there, so as long as there is adequate redirect and aka info - do it... SatuSuro 13:45, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, but so is Bardi, but a quick google search shows most 2012 documentation indictaes the new name is in usage, I'm not 100% sure if I should just do a redirect or an all out move. Thanks for your advice, I'll wait the week anway and sleep on it (so to speak) Hughesdarren (talk) 13:49, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say rename it to Ardyaloon, Western Australia. Do we have a source that indicates this is so? (It's an easy matter for the lead of the article to reflect the situation once moved, and redirects are cheap.) Orderinchaos 14:22, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Can't find any specific source saying it has been renamed. At http://www.ga.gov.au/place-name/ Ardyaloon has a feature # WA100157437 and feature code: COMM (for community) whereas Bardi has a feature # G74 and feature code:POPL(for Mapped populated place)Hughesdarren (talk) 02:44, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- But while source doesn't specifically say it has been renamed but indicates in the the title where Ardyaloon is used and Bardi and One Arm Points are bracketed. Department of Planning, maybe Aryaloon is a community within Bardi? I'll message User:PACPMR who changed some of the Bardi page to see if he can clarify further Hughesdarren (talk) 02:44, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Is there someone official (eg Dept of Planning, Landgate, the community itself) we can write to/phone and ask them to confirm or send documents? I've done that sort of thing before. Especially if it's the official name of a place it will be documented somewhere, even if it's obscure and presently non-public. Orderinchaos 10:02, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Department of Planning Document 1, hunted down by User:PACPMR confirms that Ardyaloon as the official name on the community plan and that Bardi/One Arm Point/Malumbo are previous names and that Ardyaloon has recently been chosen as more appropriate. Would it now be acceptable to make the move to Ardyaloon, Western Australia? Hughesdarren (talk) 12:05, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- That's easily sufficient. Thanks to yourself and PACPMR for finding that. Orderinchaos 13:19, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
