I have redirected Archy and Mehitabel to this page, but perhaps they should be switched around, so the properly capitalised version holds the content, with this page being a redirect. Didn't want to do this myself, as I don't know how it affects page history etc. HappyDog 00:20, 19 Dec 2003 (UTC)

It's properly capitalized here, actually, but the redirect is a good idea. - Hephaestos 00:21, 19 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I didn't realise. :) HappyDog 01:25, 19 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Capitalization of Archy/Mehitabel?

edit

The name of the article should probably remain as-is (without capitalization) because that's the proper name of the series of poems/editorials; however, just because archy can't reach the Shift key to type his name with a capital letter doesn't mean his name isn't capitalized. Indeed, because the author capitalized Archy and Mehitabel when writing in his own persona, I say all instances of the names that aren't part of a title (or something else Archy himself would've "typed") should be capitalized. The name of the book is "archy and mehitabel." The names of the characters are "Archy" and "Mehitabel." Carlo 20:18, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm not interested in starting any battles, but elsewhere on the encyclopedia WP:MOSTM applies to naming of articles, meaning that the singer k.d. lang and the television series thirtysomething, for example, are capitalized in their respective articles. When did "Archy and Mehitabel" cease publication? Thank you. Rissa, copy editor (talk) 01:20, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I was told at school that the title was a pun on Absalom & Achitophel by Dryden, afraid cannot cite any reference.

Mehitabel…

edit

It seems odd that there is a lot about Archy and his activities, but nothing on the character of Mehitabel - I no longer have the books to hand, but didn’t she claim to be the reincarnation of Cleopatra? I’m sure there must be more… Jock123 (talk) 19:32, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
