Catholic/Jewish
editAccording to the article Szerb was Catholic, but in the categories at the bottom of the article he's twice listed as Jewish. Is there any reason for this other than Anti-Semites classifying him as Jewish because all his grandparents were? --Paularblaster (talk) 01:02, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
My impression is that he was from an assimilated Jewish family, a fact that became relevant with the rise of Nazism. So--ironically, it is exactly correct that "Anti-Semites classifying him as Jewish" is the reason that that is there. Valkotukka (talk) 20:10, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Omission of his most important book

I just added that to the bibliography. From examining a printed copy of the book in German, as well as resources from the Deutsche Bibliothek, it appears that the book was originally published in German, and not translated from the Hungarian. (See also the German-language Wikipedia page.) I would love to be corrected if I'm wrong about this, though. Valkotukka (talk) 20:08, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Have found references to the book "Hétköznapok és csodák"--possibly published in 1935 although this isn't clear yet--which seems to be the Hungarian version of "Die Suche nach dem Wunder." Still trying to confirm the publication date. Valkotukka (talk) 16:33, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
OK--first edition was in Hungarian in 1936. Valkotukka (talk) 16:51, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
