You know, rewatching it....the first episode is one of the goofiest cliche anime episodes ever made. Maybe it's just that the ADV dub voice actors are kind of new to their roles (Misato is more excited than usual), but all of the "oh my God, it's impossible for Eva 01 to move but miraculously it did!" moments are kind of silly. Episode 2 is better, but Misato's english dub "it tore through the AT Field like it wasn't even there!" is kind of grating. Amazingly, the show does get exponentially better with each episode, and of course by episode 8 and Asuka, it's the best stuff ever made. --Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici 21:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I watched it last night...in Japanese. It purposefully skewers the opening of the original Gundam, acutally, down to Shinji reading a manual on NERV. No, I think it's a great episode, though I agree that the dub was a little bad early on. Xenofan 29A 04:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Assessment scale

Isn't this article one of the -B quality articles in the assessment scale? I mean, it is currently discribed as starter page but it has almost every kind of info you can pull out of the episode. I see little for improvement. (There are some however suchs as external references and maybe even some links to other websites that cover this episode aswell as Wikipedia. I don't know. Open for discussion.) ;) This also applies for all NGE episodes up to episode 24, but copy/pasting this post on every talk page of every episode article is a bit over the top I guess. ;)

@TeenAngels1234:

• First of all. The article is kinda Wikipedia:Orphan. Barely 39 articles link it here including talk pages. I would suggest adding the template of Evangelion to the bottom alongside the link of this episode.

I'm currently planning the creation of a template per sé, just like the various episode list from Adventure Time or The Simpsons. Can you wait, while I create other articles and put a more appropriate template?

• Is it possible to show a nonfree image for the infobox? Maybe something from the production that stands out or Anno's favorite scene?

Lead

• The lead seems a bit small considering the content of the article. I would suggest an elaboration of the development of the episode or what part of the episode is more notable like the usage of weaponry or designs.
• Same with the reception's area from the lead. Rather than pointing out reviwers I would consider using a generalization like you did with the other Evangelion characters.

Plot

• Misato needs a brief introduction
• "named Evangelion, where he is shown Evangelion 01" This might need some clarification. What's the difference between Evangelion and 01? I mean, both are linked. I'm pretty sure it means a series of robots with the same name like Gundams.

Production

• Considering the importance of the creators I would suggest linking Anno rather than the weapons unless you put a template for multiple free images.

What do you mean? Put a picture that portrays Anno?

• • Yeah, he is the most notable person discussed in the article and has free image in contrast to the other references.

Reception

• I would suggest trimming some quotes and instead paraprhase some responses. It happened to me once when an edit I once made to an article got erased.

@TeenAngels1234: Passing My issues were solved. I still think that you should at least link the episode to the Evangelion template. No rush needed. Kinda like the Pokemon articles that have some animated episodes.Tintor2 (talk) 22:52, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
