Conflation

edit

At the moment this article is a bit of a mess. It describes three seperate floods as if they were three distinct events within the same body of mythology (or even chronological, as sugggested by the lede). This is not the case and they can't really be distinguished in this way. To illustrate the problem, Plato's Laws book III refers vaguely to "the Deluge", and both the Ogyges and Dardanus section use this as a source to describe those floods. The footnote in the source itself says Plato is referring to Deucalion. It can't be all three. Or then again maybe it can - which is sort of my point: there aren't 3 creation floods. There's an overlaying deluge creation myth that some sources say happened to Ogyges, others say Deucalion, and others say Dardanus. I understand this is confusing, but the article should make an attempt to explain that extradiagetically rather than trying to reconcile all the conflicting myths. 2600:8800:2397:700:1935:E01A:BB58:2D16 (talk) 16:40, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
