Feat. Rihanna and Kid Cudi?

edit

The music video was released including an edit of the song that only features Rihanna and Kid Cudi and lists it as "Kanye West - All Of The Lights ft. Rihanna, Kid Cudi." I know they aren't credited as being featured on the album, but it seems as though they are for the single version. What do you guys think? nding·start 18:54, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a reliable source for that information? STATic message me! 19:35, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, I was just asking the opinions on the matter, as per what the uploaded video says on YouTube. nding·start 21:07, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I've seen the video since I commented on it. It might just be the video that features them but as you can see here when the song was released to radio it credits Rihanna as a featured artist. So maybe we should credit her as the only featured artist? STATic message me! 21:14, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well since it says that it's featuring Rihanna on the site, I think it's safe to say she's credited on the single release. nding·start 21:21, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure the Rihanna and KiD CuDi featuring credits were given for the video. Rihanna is the main artist on the chorus, and CuDi has his own verse, and both appeared in the video. One will also notice Fergie has her own verse on the song ("Unemployment line"), but it was cut out for the video, perhaps due to her absence (for reasons I do not know). Yves (talk) 23:00, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Kid Cudi should definitely be given featured credits because he has his own verse and he is even credited on Kanye West's VeVo. Also, over here on the radio, they still have Cudi's verse. Arjoccolenty (talk) 05:45, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
"Should", "shouldnt". Argue that with those that issued the single. But not here. The sole credit for Rihanna on the single is cited in the article. Should not be changed here. Bring it up at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Songs if this is not enough. Dan56 (talk) 05:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
What if I can find a source that says BOTH are featured on the single, not just the music video? Arjoccolenty (talk) 06:00, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Go for it. Dan56 (talk) 06:01, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

As I stated above I am pretty sure its just featuring Rihanna. She sings the chours so it was only right for West to credit her on the single release but Cudi only has what like two lines repeating a couple lines? He was only credited in the video most likly because him and Rihanna were the only ones West could get to do the video. His "verse" is just a glorified bridge nothing more. If we credit him might as well credit Fergie and everyone else. Which isn't going to happen. STATic message me! 06:20, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Does Fergie get a verse in the single version? Arjoccolenty (talk) 15:36, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but she is not credited as a featured artist in the single release. STATic message me! 23:30, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah well. Best that Fergie ISN'T credited. I just pretend it is Rihanna singing. So if you buy the song, it will have Fergie's verse in it? You can't buy a version that is like the music video? Arjoccolenty (talk) 19:57, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
All legal downloads feature Fergies verse but this would probably be best asked on a forum STATic message me! 01:02, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The booklet of the album does not state that there are any featured artists explicitly, only guest vocals from etc etc in the credits of the song. Therefore it should just be be billed as "Single by Kanye West." 58.172.212.41 (talk) 00:59, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's relavent for its release as an album track, not a single, which bills the artists differently. Dan56 (talk) 01:03, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think it should just be listed as Kanye West in the infobox and that within the article itself can the rest be explained. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 14:33, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Source for the artists

edit

I believe the official music video is a good enough source for listing the featured artists. Can someone add a source, since I don't know how to do it? (It's late here and I'm tired and can't be bothered searching for a way to do it, so thanks!) Yooreetsa (talk) 21:58, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

This goes back to the post above; the single release only lists Rihanna as a featured artist, while the album no one. Dan56 (talk) 22:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
But read the video description. Doesn't that count too? Yooreetsa (talk) 22:04, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, it's the video, not the single. The credit seems to be regarding his inclusion acting in the video. It would be like adding Hype Williams to the infobox's producer field. Dan56 (talk) 22:05, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, if you rely on the video, it writes: "Vocals by [..] Alvin Fields Lights" although she is not likely to have participated at all in the process of making this song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.133.136.162 (talk) 01:19, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can someone provide a source for any featured artists? As is the norm, it is not artists or youtube that determine "featured" status - this is negotiated by artist management and record labels, and chart publications follow their guidelines. Of all the sources provided for chart placings, only the UK credits Rihanna and Drake. All other countries, including the US and Canada, show West alone. Where was it determined that Rihanna is the sole featured artist? Is there cover art for the single anywhere? - eo (talk) 20:57, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's cited in the article's "release" section, "Rihanna was credited as a featured artist for the single in its release to radio.[1][2]" Dan56 (talk) 21:03, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Delete German Singles chart

edit

The one given is not the official German Singles Chart, but the chart of musicload, a German download service, like I-Tunes or something... So please delete it until the official one is there!

Cover Art

edit

Does anybody know if the song has an official cover art? Arjoccolenty (talk) 03:18, 10 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I haven't seen the song being sold as a separate single for download. I'm not certain if there will be a CD single, though. Singles don't have to have covers, though. Yves (talk) 03:23, 10 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

This would need a reliable source. The reference you used, Soundcloud, is user-submitted and not verifiable. The website even states at their terms of use that they have no liability for the user-submitted content. Dan56 (talk) 01:21, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fergie co-wrote this song

edit

The song was nominated for record of the year (or song of the year, but it was the award that goes to the SONGWRITERS of a song), and fergie was mentioned with kanye and jeff and the other writers while the nominees were announced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.45.74.252 (talk) 02:58, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

composition

edit

the paragraph headlined as composition merely repeats the same thing as the first two paragraphs. it seems unnecessary.

As you can see there is an under construction banner. I will work on the composition and expand it ASP. — Tomica (talk) 16:25, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

- The composition paragraph references an article but doesn't directly link to it. I found the link though it should be: http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtdFPE.asp?ppn=MN0091965& — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.145.140.237 (talk) 13:45, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
