Girl

edit

He did go out on a date with this average looking girl (found her on Myspace @ www.myspace.com/kristinantrim) last night to Lawry's in Chicago. I'm not making it up and I'm not a vandal. He had prime rib, mashed potatoes, cream corn, two bottles of wine, and a loaf of bread.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.158.92.4 (talk) 04:55, 19 May 2007

Nevertheless, it's an irrelevant fact to include in the article. Readers aren't going to care about his dating habits. Shadow1 (talk) 21:20, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

They were together again last night at Crescendo. Same girl, same shirt from Gadzooks. It must be a relationship!—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.158.92.4 (talk) 01:39, 15 June 2007

They were spotted at the Casino Queen in St. Louis two nights in a row. July 24 and 25. Either she is a lady of the night or they are an item.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.237.109.194 (talk) 13:14, 1 August 2007

Age controversy

edit

wasn't there a controversy about his age? should be mentioned in the article—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.147.103.4 (talk) 17:35, 18 May 2006

Not really, Texas knew about it and dumped A-Rod's contract anyway.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.45.197.97 (talk) 02:27, 20 June 2006

related?

edit

Is he related to Rafael Soriano? They are both from the Dominican Republic—Preceding unsigned comment added by Crd721 (talkcontribs) 14:10, 20 June 2006

- Nope.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.189.184.172 (talk) 02:28, 24 June 2007

Nickname

edit

nobody calls him alf so. at least i've never heard of it. when he played in new york we called him sori.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mobaseball91 (talkcontribs) 10:15, 26 June 2007

Middle name

edit

Gosh, they sure confuse baseball player's middle names often. Baseball Reference says his middle name is Guilleard, ESPN says his middle name is Pacheco, Nationals.com says his middle name is Pacheco and The Baseball Page says it's Guilleard. "Alfonso Pacheco Soriano" gets 85 google hits, yet "Alfonso Guilleard Soriano" gets 392. The more official sources say Pacheco, yet Guilleard gets more google hits. This is split down the middle. What should we put? Anyone live in Washington and want to go hop over to a Nats game and ask him? --*kate speak 10:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

His license reads "Guilleard" as his middle name.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.1.78 (talk) 21:36, 1 August 2007

Nationals Section

edit

A bit of this section is written in the present tense (2006 season). Where it says something about the manager not moving him back to second base.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Barters (talkcontribs) 10:32, 11 June 2007

Leadoff homeruns record?

edit

13 leadoff homeruns is almost certainly not the MLB record. Bobby Bonds hit 35 from the leadoff spot. Does this mean it's the Yankees record? The AL record? I'm going to remove that line until someone clarifies what that mean. 24.60.16.78 02:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, this must mean to lead off a game. I'll clarify. 24.60.16.78 02:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Called up to replace

edit

Murton was called up before Soriano's injury, not to replace Soriano. This should be removed from the article, no? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.166.35.153 (talk) 01:05, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to the Sun Times, "Between him and Murton, who rejoined the starting lineup in left field this week in the wake of Soriano's injury, the Cubs are starting to look like they might not need the outside help for which general manager Jim Hendry says he's scanning the waiver wires.". I think it needs to be clarified that Murton replaced Soriano at Left field. Good eye. --ShadowJester07Talk 01:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exactly, Murton was recalled before the injury. When Soriano injured his leg, Murotn replaced him. Murton was not recalled to replace Soriano. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.166.35.153 (talk) 01:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Enhance overview for accessibility?

edit

I'm wondering what the reviewer (2012) would like to see added to this article's lead-in? I'd like to help. - Sara FB (talk) 20:58, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regarding “Career Highlights and Awards”

edit

Shouldn’t him being a member of the “40-40 Club“ be in the “Career Highlights” section? It’s such a rare feat, with only four players ever doing so (and none more than once). MiddleAgedBanana (talk) 07:23, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

inclusion of NPB stats

edit

Regarding this edit: [1] Is there is benchmark required to include stats in the infobox while in NPB? Or it is like MLB, where even a handful of at bats might get used if that's all there was? Echoedmyron (talk) 11:33, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Robert Whiting

edit

Per the recent updates to this page, and the subsequent deletion of my updates by the moderation team, I request this article deletes the portion which paraphrases the opinions of Robert Whiting. (Redacted) I recommend that the section which cites Whiting’s book be either removed or resisted to reflect Whiting’s beliefs and history. 50.254.79.161 (talk) 17:11, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am again reverting a WP:BLP violation. You cannot say such things about a living person. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:28, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I understand reverting the original edit. However the edit made earlier today merely removed the section about Whiting. There was no violation to revert, and no thoughtful reason was given as to why. On top of this, why is Wikipedia able to create articles which demean and belittle both the NPB and the Japanese using sources which have been proven to be incorrect and exaggerated, yet cannot explain simple facts about Robert Whiting's biased views? This seems inconsistent and hypocritical. 50.254.79.161 (talk) 18:12, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
