Potential Conflict of Interest Mike Cline

edit

I own a home and live directly on the Coosa River on Lake Jordan, an Alabama Power lake. I have a vested interest in the health and popularity of the waterway I live on and its communities. I have contributed money the local and regional non-profits that promote and protect the Coosa-Tallapoosa-Alambama River watershed and its communities. Please evaluate any contributions I make for NPOV in light of the above.--Mike Cline 21:10, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Power Generating Plants

edit

I added the information of all the power generation plants owned by Alabama Power. I left it as a list but I think at some point a table with geolocation information should be added. Also maybe more information about the hydroelectric plants that includes the lakes that are created by the dams on each river. Jasgrider 05:03, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:AlabamaPower.png

edit

Image:AlabamaPower.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

General updates

edit

Disclosure: I am a spokesman for Alabama Power.

Could we have someone update the stats regarding the company on this page? They are years out of date.

Here is a link to our externally facing company fact card: http://www.alabamapower.com/about/pdf/factcard.pdf

  • Total customers
  • Revenue
  • Employees

Additionally, our CFO is no longer Art Beattie -- he is Phil Raymond. http://blog.al.com/businessnews/2010/07/birminghams_alabama_power_name.html

Do you have a link to the 10-K we could use? Rklawton (talk) 16:30, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Here is the most recent: http://investor.southerncompany.com/secfiling.cfm?filingID=92122-11-13&CIK=003153

Any of the Southern Company relevant filings would be found here: http://investor.southerncompany.com/sec.cfm

Unfortunately, they sometimes render in Iframes, and don't generate a discrete URL for each document.

Alternative energy

edit

Is Alabama Power Company doing anything at all with solar, wind, or other renewable sources? Big thing where I live, San_Luis_Valley#Solar_energy. User:Fred Bauder Talk 17:03, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm an Alabama resident and I haven't read about any. Their biggest accomplishment as of late has been to finally reduce emissions at their coal burning plants, which had been amongst some of the worst offenders in the nation. Altairisfar (talk) 17:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Biased information?

edit

The information regarding lakes created along Alabama's rivers for the purpose of generating hydroelectricity sounds biased toward Alabama Power's public image. Specifically, the assertion that such lakes provide recreational opportunities for Alabamians sounds as if it were written by a person with vested interest in Alabama Power. I suggest it be amended or removed. --Sierkejd (talk) 11:35, 20 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have asked that the incorrect logo be removed, and replaced with one from the company media resource page.
