Why separate article?

This a fine start. There is certainly enough material to support an article. For it to be self-sufficient, it needs to amplify the existing material at Al Smith#1928 Election and United States presidential election, 1928. If the New York State section is not improved, I would recommend that the best of the other text be rolled into one of the other two articles and this one be dispensed with. Let me state, for the record, that in creating this article (using content that had been taken from my user sandbox), @Jon698 failed to follow Wikipedia policy.

Wikipedia policy stipulates that copying content from another page within Wikipedia requires supplementary attribution to indicate it. At minimum, this means providing an edit summary at the destination page – that is, the page into which the material is copied – stating that content was copied, together with a link to the source (copied-from) page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to make a note in an edit summary at the source page as well. Content reusers should also consider leaving notes at the talk pages of both source and destination.

It is also highly inadvisable that they did not notify me of this.
