Why no more adjournments
edit@CapnZapp: Historically, I think that adjournments were abandoned long before computers got strong enough to beat the strongest humans. In fact, I think the main trigger for abandoning adjounments was the introduction of digital clocks with increment/delay, so that "sudden-death" games could be played and concluded in reasonable time without causing ridiculous situations where one or both players had only a couple seconds to play dozens of moves.
I could be wrong about this. But I am sure that adjournments were mostly gone long before Deep Blue beat Kasparov, for instance.
