- Objection: The "Dev" is not included in the sources I see. —[[User:|BarrelProof]] (talk) 19:17, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
I suggest moving this to Aditi Sharma (actress, born 1983) to distinguish her from the other actress who is currently described at Aditi Sharma (actress).—BarrelProof (talk) 22:58, 14 November 2019 (UTC)- Strikethrough above: The other article has been deleted. I now see no need to rename this article. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:56, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

- Aditi Sharma → Aditi Sharma (actress, born 1983)
- Aditi Sharma (actress) → Aditi Sharma (actress, born 1996)
– there is two Aditi Sharma and both are television actresses (Aditi Sharma (actress) so it’s better to have this name so people don’t get confused. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a01:4c8:64:fcc0:ddad:c665:acce:18f (talk) 12:52, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support and DAB at base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 15:12, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- See Aditi Sharma (disambiguation), which was a redirect that I dabified to make ready for the base name. P.I. Ellsworth ed. put'r there 22:49, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support, but the disambiguator should be "actress", not "actor". There's absolutely no evidence that either is commonly referred to using the masculine form of the word and "actress" is our common disambiguator for female actors unless there is substantial evidence that they prefer the masculine use; most do not. See Category:Indian film actresses. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:05, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Aditi Sharma (actress, born 1983) → Aditi Dev Sharma – Popular/Common name of the actress and that can also be found in sources too, example of such sources includes this and this, and many more. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 21:31, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- Although that form of her name is found in some sources it appears to be most common without Dev. Gab4gab (talk) 22:57, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab:It is clear that if you are looking for "Aditi Sharma", you're looking for about 2 to 3 notable persons, but if you're looking for "Aditi Dev Sharma", you're looking for one notable person. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 11:00, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- It should be clear that I am addressing how to name articles in Wikipedia, not how to search the internet for someone. Our standard for how we name biography articles is how reliable sources commonly refer to the subject. None of the sources used in the article include Dev in her name. Your two examples do not show that the name commonly used includes Dev. How we can search most exclusively for the one person of interest is not how we choose article names. A redirect for Aditi Dev Sharma might be useful for people searching Wikipedia. Gab4gab (talk) 11:34, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab: It is good to ping a user when you're directly talking to them. Well, I understand what you're saying, searching can also be done on Wikipedia, not only the internet. I only feel the current title seems not too okay when the persons name is there and also shown in some sources. Moving the page was not something hard for me to do but I know it will be controversial that's why I decided we discuss first. But I still maintain what my view is which is "when you say Aditi Sharma, there are more people, then you start differentiating them. But when you say Aditi Dev Sharma, it refers to one person. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 12:09, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Melody Idoghor: We should attempt to follow Wikipedia policy and guidelines when we can. I am in favor of following the guidance found at WP:MIDDLENAME, which says to use the most common format of a name used in reliable sources. If you believe that the format including the middle name is most common then you need to make that case. The sources used in the article appear to strongly counter the two examples you provided. Gab4gab (talk) 12:29, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab: You didn't get my name correctly, it's "Idoghor Melody" as in User:Idoghor Melody. Well I do agree with what you say. While I still maintain my position of the move, let's hear other opinions. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 12:43, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Idoghor Melody: are you pursuing your personal preferences rather than following community consensus? Have you found any Wikipedia policy or guidelines that supports your preference? The same move was proposed in 2019 and not implemented. What has changed since then? Gab4gab (talk) 12:55, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab: Like I said above, I agree with you. Maybe someone should just close this discussion while I create a redirect. The thing is, moving the page or creating a redirect wasn't a big deal when I came across it yesterday as I'm a contributor at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects and categories and created over 200 redirects but I deemed necessary to ask or suggest before I do anything as I noticed it has been controversial. So o, going ahead to create the redirect while someone closes this discussion. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 13:52, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Idoghor Melody: Thank you. I admit I was confused when you said you agreed and maintained your position on the move. Gab4gab (talk) 14:19, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab: Redirect created, waiting for a closer. Or maybe I'll just do it myself. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 14:31, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
