merge with Sol Invictus

edit

The article now has a notability-template on its page, I see. It might be a good idea, to prevent deletion of the info now present in this article, to merge Above the Ruins with Sol Invictus. If we do nothing, it will be deleted. And expansion may not be possible. Any thoughts on a merge with the article Sol Invictus please? Mark in wiki (talk) 08:47, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Probably a good idea, since merging with Tony Wakeford woulkd invite WP:BLP issues. I see there is a "Controversy" section over at Sol Invictus which should probably be sourced or removed, which tangentially refers to Above the Ruins. - CompliantDrone (talk) 18:37, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't merge it with S.I. because discussions concerning controversial content always led back to AtR which was connected to the NF, while S.I. was not, however questionable some statements by T.W. even after starting S.I. might have been. The early line-up of S.I. included Karl Blake and Rose McDowall who definitely were NOT right-wing (Ian Read is another story, altogether). - Anyway, I've expanded this article a bit. The sentence "the involvement of musicians Liz Grey and Ian Read has remained mere speculation" could be deleted if this prevents this article from being removed. Grey and Read have been mentioned on numerous sites, but none which could prove this point, including Stewart Home's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Kerber (talkcontribs) 21:33, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

ATR personnel

edit

Personell of ATR always remained a mistery, although there are lots of fantasies about being the previous incarnation of Sol Invictus a continuation of ATR. In particular Tony Wakeford never said who was involved in the project at the time, and the phrase "while Wakeford confirmed having worked at one point with Gary Smith (of No Remorse)"[1] is totally false if referred to ATR as in the cited interview [1] Wakeford does not mention ATR a single time, and the reference to Gareth Smith are about is presence on the first Sol Invictus album "Against the Modern World" after which the musician was invited to leave the band. By the way Rose MacDowall never sung nor in ATR nor in Sol Invictus.

I agree in parts - as I share Stuart Home's view (which I'm often critical of, btw) that the line-up change from AtR to Sol was transient not abrupt, my addition of Smith to the AtR line-up was too speculative. You're wrong concerning Rose McDowall, she played drums on Sol's Japanese concert in 1988 which is documented on Sol's In the Jaws of the Serpent live album (I never said she sang).--Robert Kerber (talk) 11:56, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
