Spelling
editThe correct spelling should be Aziz by Pakistani convention. Aaziz is not a spelling anywhere in the world. Hassanfarooqi 01:53, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Spelling / Grammar / POV
editI am the last person who should correct other people's spelling and grammar, but this article is beyond ridiculous. People, if you can't speak/write/express-yourselves-in English, stick with this: http://ur.wiki.x.io/ and don't embarrass yourselves here (not to mention spill your venomous political/religious views)
I just fixed some of the worst and most hideous mistakes, but the whole article is a joke, not to mention the obvious absence of a neutral POV. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.249.45.148 (talk • contribs)
- May I suggest you try harder to raise your concerns without mocking the efforts of other participants? Wikipedians are supposed to be ready for criticisms and challenges to their contributions. But those challenges should be specific, and the use of ridicule and inflammatory language should be avoided. Geo Swan (talk) 17:18, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Use of the term Ghazi
edit' is a religious honorific used for warriors who fight in and return alive from a holy war. This honorific prefix is not part of Abdul Aziz's actual name, nor was it attached to his name prior to the Lal Masjid incident. It is almost exclusively used by his Islamist supporters and sympathisers who feel he was defending Islam during the Lal Masjid incident and feel that because he survived the incident, he has become a 'Ghazi'. This is a controversial view.
Wikipedia policy does not allow the use of religious honorifics unless they are so commonly attached to a person's name that his actual name is unrecognizable without it. This is not the case when it comes to Abdul Aziz. He is commonly known by his actual name or as 'Maulana Abdul Aziz.' (Although Maulana is a clerical title, I feel its use on the article may be permitted by WP:TITLESINTITLES as it is used to form the unambiguous name by which Abdul Aziz is often known and also because it is used by all people, not just his supporters).
I also feel that the title of this article needs to be changed to something neutral like 'Abdul Aziz (cleric)'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Human10.0 (talk • contribs) 07:30, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
