Disputed facts

I'm partially undoing this diff since the arguments/dispute were listed in the article body rather than here at the talk page, and bringing the disputed content here for discussion.

• AFL Victoria (formerly Football Victoria) - claim is inconsistent with ASIC register of corporation and business names)
• Under the organisation's... - it is not a separate organisation and appears to be just an internal administrative division of the Australian Football League which should therefore be attributed as the organisation) jurisdiction
• Football Victoria was formed in 1999 - claim inconsistent with the ASIC register of corporation and business names)
• ...when the previous state governing body (the Victorian Football League) was nationalised - incorrect use of term
• In February 2007 Football Victoria officially - incorrect use of term, probably meant "formally"
• ...changed its name to AFL Victoria – inconsistent with ASIC register of corporation and business names
• "Adopting the name of AFL Victoria will reinforce the organisations own position and also boost the position of the AFL brand as AFL Victoria works and the AFL work together to expand the reach of football in the face of increasing competition." – This quote does not support the preceding statement. The quote refers to "Adopting" a name, not a "changed" name.

  @ Aspirex - The anon editor who left these comments must have a background in corporate law, but failed to remember the internet remembers all most things:

  Football Victoria Ltd (A.C.N: 004 246 253 established 1946) [1] was the previous corporate entity that had the organisational responsibility for the VFL (nee VFA), TAC Cup and governance over the lower levels of Australian football in Victoria, having been granted that responsibility by the Australian Football League (AFL) in the 1990s as the VSFL (A.C.N.: 006 331 737 - voluntarily deregistered 1998). Football Victoria Ltd was wound up by the AFL in 2010-12 with the functions and roles having been taken back inhouse by the AFL under a rebranded "AFL Victoria" banner (the 2007 announcement [2]). That continuing organisational entity (separate (like it was) or inhouse) is the focus of this article.

  In summary, without accessing the further documents on ASIC and the annual reports (a trip to the MCC Library might be in my future it seems), the bullet points should be addressed as such:

  1. Remove dubious tag, add link above - note annual reports from the early 2000s were available online in the past;

  2. Change sentence to: AFL Victoria, as part of the sport's national governing body the AFL, has the overarching responsibility for the... (VFL, VFLW, community football etc - best to summarise the details here [3]), noting the now structure beneath AFL Victoria with regional commissions (AFL Barwon etc) and league bodies (VAFA ect);

  3. Change sentence to: Football Victoria took over the organisation of the VFL in 1999, replacing the Victorian State Football League as the peak governing body for Australian rules football in Victoria, under the Australian Football League Commission. (or something to that effect);

  4. Yeah nationalised was an inelegant usage - the newer wording works well;

  5-7. Propose adopted in this sentence structure: "In 2007 Football Victoria adopted the name AFL Victoria..." (use the block quote with link).

  I'll try and dig up some more documents to fill out this article more and expand upon the position and role of AFL Victoria within the AFL. Perhaps with an eye to list out the CEOs and Chairs to make this a little more encyclopaedic.

  FYI anon editor the corporate entity now controlling the NAB League teams (A.C.N.: 147 664 579) is still called "AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (VICTORIA) LIMITED"

  The bugbear would be that when they stopped using the Football Victoria moniker, that soccer took it for themselves (A.B.N: 97 592 993 965) in 2019. Storm machine (talk) 02:24, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

  I've made these changes. Haven't had a chance to visit the MCG library though to be able to expand the article though. Storm machine (talk) 23:17, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
