"of the Bolshevist Russia"

edit

The expression "of the Bolshevist Russia" strikes this native speaker of English as too far from being enlightening. Tho i am a mere dabbler with Russian (e.g., Northern Russian dialects#Morphology does surpr!se me), i suspect the definite-article anomaly (my term) of ("school-book") Russian of having produced -- despite their manifestly vastly superior grasp of Russian-to-English translation, an error in English by my colleague. We dict-def Bolshevist Russia without the article, and in English doing otherwise would make sense only for distinguishing between the forces of B. & Czarist Russia struggling, respectively, to gain and retain/regain state power -- or perhaps distinguishing between the respective territories under their perhaps long-precarious control. (And need for such distinctions appears absent in the article's lead's context.)
That is, i'd have said "[military unit] of Bolshevist Russia", unless a distinction that escapes me is being made. (Now, AFAIK that point would have to have been made, in standard Russian, other than with a definite article. And of course maybe i know less than i imagine.)

@Jerzy: Why of course, you're right, the definite article is definitely not needed there. The beauty of Wikipedia is that you can fix that pretty fast you know :) //Halibutt 09:27, 8 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Tnx. (I always break the rule "proofread, then save"; quite embarrassing in talk when correspondent is on line!)

@Jerzy:, being a grammar nazi myself I know exactly what you mean :) And don't worry about bein' green, wear your colour with pride. I always envy the newcomers here on Wikipedia. So much to discover! //Halibutt 13:31, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Halibutt:   Uh... which newcomers do you envy?[wink]
