Too much scrolling required to find individual match results

I find that the main inconvenience of the current year's page (2023 and previous years) is the amount of scrolling required just to see individual match results. You have to scroll through the equivalent of about ten pages just to find out who won each match. It would be particularly useful during the tournament to see a one-line score summary of each match near the top of the article. I propose that for 2024 the current fixtures subsection remain exactly as it is, as the first section after the lede, being updated only with the score and link to 'Match details'. This link would go to a Results section lower down the article, after the table, the particpants details etc, where all the match details, currently equivalent to about an A4 page each, are given. Agreed. The page is not well done. Reason for this: the details of each match - names of players etc. - should be in separate articles as is done in WC Football, for example. (Or even a link to an external source). This page should not go into such detail and should, instead, just list fixtures, venues, dates and scores and so on. This has been remedied. There is no need to split off any of the info into separate pages. The reason we do it for the World Cup is because that competition happens every four years and has a total of 64 matches (increasing to over 100 for the 2026 tournament). – PeeJay 14:35, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Alec Hepburn

The notes on the Wales - Scotland game says that Alec Hepburn made his international debut in the game. It's not strictly true - he made his Scotland debut in this match, but has already played international rugby for England - should the note not reflect this? Colours in tables

We can use this to discuss. There is no good reason to add colours. And the downside is that they are distracting. CUA 27 (talk) 13:22, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

The colours are actually quite useful in indicating the winners of each game at a glance, rather than having to work out which score was higher. Not sure how distracting they really are. – PeeJay 18:14, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

Lads. let's get real here. Is a table useful to quickly see what happened in the tournament so far and to also see what's going to happen? It clearly is. Will additional colours help even better to see home and away game victories and losses within seconds? They undoubtedly will. Maybe it's easy enough in the Six nations with only six teams without the colours. But imagine the sheer chaos of removing the colours in the match tables of the URC or the MLR. So why removing them here? It defeats the sole purpose of the table. So either we put the colours back in and somehow manage to add a legend in the existing table, or we put it back down where it was last week where everything was in compliance with the holy scripture of our forefathers. I think the colours do comply with that MOS. The issue at the moment is that whereas the colour legend would normally appear if the results table were included separately, it's not appearing when incorporated into the standings table. I've raised something at the template talk page, but who knows if it'll ever be seen. – PeeJay 14:23, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
