The result of the move request was: not moved. Clearly consensus against the move and for keeping the title aligned with all other articles in Category:Major League Baseball seasons. (closed by non-admin page mover) Skarmory (talk • contribs) 20:39, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
2023 Major League Baseball season → 2023 MLB season – As with other sports leagues should we rename this article to 2023 MLB season? Hoopstercat (talk) 20:20, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose, per WP:BROKE. See Category:Major League Baseball seasons. 162 etc. (talk) 20:43, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose, best to keep consistent with all the other Year Major League Baseball season pages. GoodDay (talk) 03:40, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Comment We can either move them all or move none of them. The main issue is that while "MLB" is a pretty widely and consistently used abbreviation now both by the league itself and outside media, that's really only been something that me caught on in the last ten years or so. Prior to that, Major League Baseball was always spelled out or referred to as "the majors" when talked about collectively, largely a result of actually being two separate leagues legally until 2000. So, since it would be awkwardly anachronistic to use the abbreviation prior to that date, let alone prior to it becoming common use, I think we should leave the season articles as is. Just as long as the redirects form the abbreviated titles exist (and they do), there's no loss of searchability for readers. oknazevad (talk) 08:01, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Leave it alone Pewtey (talk) 16:12, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose, i don't why why we are moving it to the exact same title: 2023 Major League Baseball season to 2023 Major League Baseball season, nothing is changing.Cherrell410 (talk) 14:26, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- The notice is malformed. The proposal is to go to MLB instead of spelling out Major League Baseball. oknazevad (talk) 14:32, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- Even so, just with consistency with other major league baseball seasons. Cherrell410 (talk) 14:33, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- Don't disagree. But I am fixing the notice. oknazevad (talk) 14:34, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
