Typhoon Forest

edit

wind speed information is inaccurate. further research is required. it currently states 125. forest was a category 5 with at least 180-190 sustained at one advisory. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.121.48 (talk) 19:36, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually the wind speed that are listed are accurate. Per the official warning centre for the region Forrest had windspeeds of 125mph not 180mph.Jason Rees (talk) 19:53, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

suspect?

edit

the source listed (AOML) for Super Typhoon Forrest lists a pressure drop of 100 mb in just under 24 hours...i cant find a source that says otherwise, can someone tell me why there is doubt? Runningonbrains 04:00, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because pressure is estimated from satellite images it is not entirely accurate - usually accurate to within about 10 mar. Some sources give a significantly lower value (IIRC lower than Wilma's) as Forest's 24h drop. — jdorje (talk) 04:08, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
They still did reconnaisance in the western Pacific during this year. There shouldn't be any dispute for Forrest. Is your comment directed towards Wilma? Thegreatdr 03:59, 7 January 2007 (UTC) 03:58, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Start vs. Stub for season articles

edit

It needs at least a one sentence description of every storm to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 09:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tracks needed

edit

13 of the 24 tracks remain to be added. Thegreatdr 22:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I'll do it. They're all uncategorized too. Good kitty 22:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
They're all there except for Carmen. The bot doesn't sort anything, though. :-/ Good kitty 23:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The bot isn't that intelligent, Don't know how Carmen got over looked (I've got it locally) :/--Nilfanion (talk) 23:29, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks all. There is clearly a problem with Carmen, which it looks like a few of you have tried to tackle over the last couple weeks. Thegreatdr 02:47, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for fixing Carmen. I've had odd problems in the past with images existing within wikipedia, but not displaying. Thegreatdr 16:33, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Two extra TD tracks from the HKO ref need to be added. Any help would be appreciated. Thegreatdr (talk) 01:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Upgrade

edit

New infoboxes have been added for the tropical cyclones. HKO info is now added. Once the season summary is added and the extra two TD tracks and their respective images added, the article should be safe for GACing. Thegreatdr (talk) 01:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's ready for GAC yet. Can Norris be expanded to more than a sentence? The section on Kim doesn't mention the damage in Thailand, which may be combined with the damage from Herbert. Potapych (talk) 14:40, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've added text per your comments. The season summary has now been added. I have to wait for GIBBS to come back online later today or tomorrow to get the two TD satellite images into the appropriate text boxes. We still need track images created for those two systems. Their track data is within the HKO ref. Thegreatdr (talk) 16:42, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also what about the PAGASA Info?Jason Rees (talk) 17:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the added info/confusion this simple list introduced to the article. =) Does PAGASA have an annual summary online, so I can figure out definitively which tropical cyclone is which? For now, I'm moving the extra systems into an other storms section, similar to the 1981 and 1982 Pacific typhoon season articles. Thegreatdr (talk) 18:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about that lol, Im not sure weather PAGASA published a season summuary for 1982 but ill have a look around typhoon 2000Jason Rees (talk) 18:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've had mixed luck with information from Mike's, and even PAGASA's, web site for this article series. Sometimes information is there, then it disappears. I just noticed we have a current ref problem in this article because of information "disappearing" from the PAGASA web site, which is full of broken links itself. Thegreatdr (talk) 18:45, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ive now seen that Ref Problem thankfully though the Internet archive seems to have archived some of it Jason Rees (talk) 19:06, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fixed the link. Thegreatdr (talk) 14:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Many of the sections are only one paragraph long and don't mention any of the storm's impacts. Additionally, there are several systems which are just empty. It's clear that this good article from 2008 doesn't meet the requirements today. OhHaiMark (talk) 14:14, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure why I was pinged, but yes, I agree this season probably doesn't meet GA criteria. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:59, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
