History
editWhen Netflix began to produce original animated content in 2013, all of them were produced by third-party companies, mostly DreamWorks Animation Television. However, in November 2018, it was announced that Netflix was developing original animated projects in-house including Klaus and Kid Cosmic.[1] In 2019, Netflix Animation expanded operations and leased offices in Burbank and Hollywood for animation, television and film production.[2][3]
The company acquired Australian animation/visual effects studio Animal Logic in July 2022. The same month, Melissa Cobb stepped down as vice president of film animation whilst still on board as producer with Karen Toliver as her replacement.[4]
In June 2024, Hannah Minghella was named head of feature animation and live-action family film at Netflix, replacing Karen Toliver.[5]
