"My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me to the Doctor)" is a 1985 song by English pop band Dead or Alive. It was the fourth and final single from the band's second studio album Youthquake. It peaked at No. 23 on the UK singles chart, No. 12 in Japan, and became a dance hit in the U.S. The music video depicts lead singer Pete Burns in a leather jacket on the back of a motorcycle, and the band walking down a catwalk.
Two 7" remixes and two 12" extended remixes of the single were released—the extended version and a unique version with uncredited additional guitar by Matt Aitken as the "American 'Wipe-out'" mix. The song was then remixed a third time for Dead or Alive's compilation album, Rip It Up, released in the fall of 1987. "My Heart Goes Bang" was again remixed and re-recorded for Fragile (2000) and Unbreakable (2001) which were only available on Avex Trax in Japan.
†† This is the full-length version of the mix exclusive to the UK (instead, on all subsequent collections, the edit version (6:19) is used).
‡ Most of the 7" and limited edition 12" UK releases did not label the mix as the 7" version, hence the incorrect labelling as the "7" US Wipe-out" mix on some online listings. This is backed up by the fact that the same length mix was included on the That's the Way I Like It: The Best of Dead or Alive album, where it was correctly labelled as the 7" version.
