Marcas District is one of eight districts of the Acobamba Province in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Uma Kunka at approximately 4,000 m (13,000 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly Indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (80.31%) learnt to speak in childhood, 19.33% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
