Batwoman is an American superhero television series developed by Caroline Dries for The CW.[1] Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, it is part of the Arrowverse continuity. The series premiered on October 6, 2019, and ran for three seasons until March 2, 2022, before its cancellation on April 29.
The first season follows Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, the cousin of vigilante Bruce Wayne, who becomes Batwoman in his absence. In May of 2020, Rose announced her departure from the series.[2] The second and third seasons focus on Javicia Leslie as ex-con Ryan Wilder as she protects Gotham City in the role of Batwoman.
During the course of the series, 51 episodes of Batwoman aired over three seasons, between October 6, 2019, and March 2, 2022. The third season ran from October 13 through March 2, 2022.[3] A fourth season was in development,[4] but was canceled following Nexstar Media Group's acquisition of The CW.[5][6][7]
