John Connolly (born 1978/1979)[1] is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway West constituency since the 2024 general election.[2] He had been an unsuccessful candidate at the 2016 general election in Galway West and the 2016 Seanad election for the Cultural and Educational Panel.[1]

Connolly was first elected to Galway City Council at the 2004 Galway City Council election, however he lost his seat at the next election in 2009. Persuaded by the local party to stand again he regained his seat in 2019 and again in 2024.[1]
Formerly the principal of Athenry National School. he lives in Rahoon in the west of the City with his wife, Bernadette and their three children, and is a former Chairperson of Bearna GAA Club.[3]
While a member of the Council John served on the Western Regional Health Forum and was Chairperson of the Council's Operational Development SPC (Strategic Policy Committee).
