English: Headquarters of the American Research Centre's Expedition. Left centre is an early Christian cemetery under excavation. The hills in the background are remnants of the original plateau through which the Nile cut its way; on them are many indications of palaeolithic man.
Français : Camp de l'expédition du Centre américain de recherche. Au centre, à gauche, un cimetière du début de l'ère chrétienne en cours de fouille. A l'arrière-plan, les restes du plateau primitif au travers duquel le Nil s'est forgé son chemin et sur lesquels on trouve des traces de l'homme paléolithique.
