Critical Reception

edit

Underground Orange launched theatrically in Argentina on October 10th, 2024. The film premiered both at Atlas Caballito and in the Cine Gaumont in Buenos Aires to favorable reviews from critics.[5] Alex Lei, who writes for Filmmaker Magazine, called the film not a coming of age but "a coming-of-identity." [6] Furthermore, Marta Zeamanuel of New/Next says, “In this assured debut feature, spirited discourse and deeply-felt emotion weave through every activity the characters partake in whether it’s play rehearsals, a heist, a musical number, or a kidnapping plot." [7] In Argentina, Julieta Aiello of Indie Hoy writes, “Underground Orange navigates between historical revisionism and denunciation, an ode to what’s youthful and punk, while remaining a declaration of love from a foreigner towards our country.” [8]
