The name “Sloboda” is connected to the old Slavic word Sloboda [Ukrainian: слобода́], referring to the freedom and inclusivity-oriented corporate culture, as well as to the north-eastern part of Ukraine - Kharkiv, where the company was founded.
History
editIn 2010, Sloboda Studio was established by a serial entrepreneur Pavlo Obod. Since Pavlo was previously a Ruby on Rails developer, the company highly focused on this framework and organized conferences dedicated to Ruby on Rails, and later on created a Ruby on Rails course for enthusiasts.
In 2015, the Kharkiv IT Cluster[1] was officially established, marking a pivotal moment in the region's technological development. This initiative brought together leading IT companies, including Sloboda Studio, to foster a vibrant tech community in Kharkiv. Their collective efforts aimed at enhancing IT education, improving employment opportunities in the tech sector, and transforming Kharkiv into a prominent IT hub, contributing significantly to the city's economic and social landscape.
In 2020, Sloboda celebrated its 10th anniversary by completing its 100th project, and expanding its R&D offices around the world.
For the next years, Sloboda added new services, such as website redesign, DevOps, consulting, and technologies, like Python, Django, AI, and more. They continue to navigate the landscape and connect to new clients and talents.
