None Of Her (film)
edit‘None Of Her’ is an 2024 Kannada-English drama-crime film, written and directed by Poojitha Prasad. It stars Greeshma Sridhar and Sowmya Jaganmurthy as two women who are trying to prove their innocence in connection to a techie's death, while examining their own lives on the interrogation table.
The film is a drama centred around a crime; it is a social narrative on how women work out of the rigid framework that society has constructed for their existence. Not existing in this framework has harsh consequences, leading them to take steps driven by female rage.
The cast also includes Deepak Subramanya (Dasa Purandara), Lekha Naidu (Roopanthara) and Harshil Koushik (Aachar and Co.)
'None Of Her' was screened at the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival.
Plot
editThe death of a city techie (Akash) puts the limelight on two urban women, Bhavana and Deepa. Both of them have separate ties with Akash and it’s obvious they are both hiding something. They are brought to the interrogation table because the police are convinced one of them had a role to play in Akash’s suicide.
Police Inspector Naveen and IPS Officer Stuti delve into the women’s lives to search for a clear-cut motive and stumble upon stories of deep personal conflicts. Deepa and Bhavana also encounter their own demons and battles as the story unfolds at the interrogation table. A hot-headed and quick-tongued lawyer, Deepa finds that her fierce sense of independence often isolates her from the world. In contrast, the shy and timid Bhavana needs someone by her side all the time, driving her to make a series of impulsive bad decisions that has unpleasant repurcussions.
Deepa will do anything to protect her daughter Sushmitha and to protect her secret. Bhavana will go to any lengths to ‘settle down’ with a husband. They reach a point where they don't know how to stop.
The story follows the personal lives of both women while also searching for the truth about Akash's death.
