Not long after when he was 13 he was spotted by Oscar winning musician Glen Hansard busking on Buchanan Street[7], where he invited Murdo to his show at The Old Fruitmarket & brought young Murdo up onstage with him for an impromptu performance with him and his band[8]. He was also mentored by 60s Star Donovan who walked past by chance as Mitchell played one of the iconic artist’s songs whilst busking, the collaboration culminated in a performance of the pair at the Duke of Edinburgh Awards[9], in an interview with The Herald, Donovan stated about Murdo: "he has what I had at his age, the hunger to communicate."[10]
At 18 Murdo moved to London where he was a regular busker in Leicester Square.[11] In 2021 he signed his first record deal with Norwegian Indie "Compro Records" and released his first E.P "Stay Nocturnal".[12]In 2022 he signed with Swedish Indie label "ICEA" for his second E.P release titled "Aztec Jewel", which included Swedish duo Flora Cashremixing Murdo's song "Your Skin". For the "Aztec Jewel" E.P Murdo worked with "Every Kingdom" producer Chris Bond (Ben Howard, Xavier Rudd, Roo Panes)[13] In 2023 Murdo signed with an arm of Sony Music to release his latest E.P "Cheap Hotels" with the first release being "June in July".[14][15]The last release from this E.P was released on September 6th 2024.[16]
