Leander Gaston Claes Vyvey (born December 21, 1989, in Ghent, Belgium) is a Belgian-British actor and former professional kitesurfer.
Early life and kitesurfing career
editLeander began practicing kitesurfing in Nieuwpoort, Belgium, where he became a four-time Belgian champion. He was the runner-up in the Kiteboard Pro World Tour (KPWT) in both 2008 and 2009. Vyvey secured the World Championship title in Lake Como, Italy, in 2008.[1]
Leander's career was marked by several notable incidents, including accidents in Big Bay, South Africa (2007), and Maui, Hawaii (2009), which ultimately led to his retirement from competitive kitesurfing.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
Acting career
editAfter retiring from professional kitesurfing, Leander pursued a career in acting. He trained in Madrid, at the Drama Studio in London, and at The Second City in Chicago. Leander made his acting debut in the 2016 film "Rescue Under Fire" and has since appeared in various films and television series.[11][12][13]
Personal life
editLeander is fluent in multiple languages, including English, Dutch, French, Spanish, and German. He is passionate about ocean conservation. Despite his public career, he maintains a low profile in media, and details about his personal life are limited.[14]
