Dojo Cuts is an Australian contemprary band founded by Sarsha Simone (vocalist) and Nate Goldentone (guitarist, bassist, drummer, producer) who make Soul music. The band formed in late 2008 in Sydney with original members Sarsha Simone (AKA Roxie Ray), Nate Goldentone, Ed Hall (drums) and Guy Kilty (Bass). Soon after Andrew Simons (Sax) and Matthew Parker (Trumpet) joined the band. This original formation wrote and recorded their debut self-titled album as demo, which was picked up and released by Record Kicks.[1]. Gabe Roth (Bosco Mann) of Daptone Records wrote the liner notes for their first album. In 2010, US label Colemine Records released a 45 rpm 7" vinyl with the songs You Make Loving Real Easy and Love Me Right[2]
In 2012, Dojo Cuts and Record Kicks released the 2nd album Take From Me[3]. Russ Dewbury, legendary UK DJ and promoter, wrote the liner notes for the 2nd album. The band then went on hiatus from 2013 to 2019 until Sarsha and Nate wrote, recorded and independetly relased the bands 3rd studio album Tomorrow's Gonna Come, which was released in 2020 via a crowd funding campaign. Between 2020 and 2023 Colemine Records released 2 single 45 records Rome/Falling in Love Again and Here We Are (featuring Carlton Jumel Smith) and full length compilation vinyl LP Pieces[4].
In 2023, the UK Northern Soul Record Label Detour Records released a single 7" vinyl record Ain't Got No Reason/Uptight (Stevie Wonder cover).[5]
As of 2019, the band primarily consists of Sarsha Simone and Nate Goldentone. The two artists continue to write and make music, primarily released digitally on streaming services.
