Bedford Park Elementary School is a public school in the Bedford Park neighborhood in the City of Toronto.This school is part of the community center.[1] More than 700 students 42 teachers and 3 support staff provide services in Bedford Park school. The number of main languages other than English is 204. bedford park is administered by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). This school teaches from preschool to eighth grade. Most students come from the Bedford Park or Lawrence neighborhoods. The closest subway station to the school is Lawrence subway station(TTC).[2]

History

This school opened in September 1911 with 70 students enrolled in grades 1 through grade 4. Between 1914 and 1920, 24 new rooms were added. In the mid-1970s, an addition was added which included the gymnasium and swimming pool. Bedford Park was originally a four-room, two-story school. There were four teachers including the principal, and a janitor. Two of the first teachers were Mrs. Grant and Miss DeFoot and the head teacher was Mr. Darley. The janitor's salary was $40 per month. The first director of this school was Mr. Lamon.

Sports

In recent years, Bedford Park has won city hockey (boys and girls) and basketball (boys). Some of these activies happens in school and some of it in the community center.

Lunchtime activities are fun for everyone. You can do fun activities during lunch and win some of those activities. These activities include:

French Club:

You can go to the French Club after lunch and speak French with students and some teachers and expand your French.

Fourth to sixth grade.

Robotics Club:

This is a competitive and non-competitive activity for those interested in robotics and Lego. Team competition begins in September and runs through Christmas. Non-team competition, which is open to students who are interested in participating but not competing, begins in January and ends in April.

Lego Club:

This is an interesting and popular Lego activity. This activity is for first to third grades. You can make anything you want with Lego without any limitations.

Art: In this school, you can see works of art from the hands of preschoolers to the eighth grade. In all sizes, colors and shapes. Because school authorities believe that art should be shown from childhood.

Music: You can find music in Bedford Park. Music begins in preschool and continues through eighth grade. Depending on your grade, your music instruments will change. They teach from small musical instruments to big instruments such as drums.
