The Al-Mouqeb Nazareth Association (Arabic: الموكب, Hebrew: "התהלוכה") is an organization dedicated to enhancing the status of Nazareth, known as the city of the Annunciation, both nationally and internationally. Founded in 1983 as a community committee, it initially collaborated with the Scouts movement in the city to organize a colorful procession on Christmas Eve. In 2010, the committee transitioned into a registered association, with numerous volunteers joining its cause.
Background
editNazareth, the largest city in the Galilee region, serves as the political, religious, and social hub of the Arab community in Israel. The association's vision is to reinforce Nazareth’s significance as a sacred city for hundreds of millions of Christians globally. This is achieved by highlighting the Annunciation event, which, according to the New Testament (Luke 1:26), occurred in the city approximately 2,000 years ago and marked the inception of Christianity. The association aims to amplify this historical event by developing Christmas celebrations and organizing activities that attract a significant number of tourists and visitors from both Israel and abroad.
The Social Value of the Association
editThe association has effectively mobilized a diverse public, including local residents, neighboring communities, and individuals from across Israel, encompassing Arabs, Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Druze. Participants engage in various events with mutual respect, love, and peace..
Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Events
editThe association promotes the social and humanitarian values of Christmas by including children with disabilities in its annual activities. This involves making the Christmas procession accessible to these children and incorporating them into the procession route. Additionally, the association facilitates their participation in the Christmas market activities by providing two booths to institutions and schools catering to children with disabilities. These children present and sell handmade gifts and items. On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the association organizes a musical performance featuring significant participation from these children, who perform, sing, and host the event.

The procession takes place every year on Christmas Eve, leaving from the Temple of the Holy Mary in the Hapoalim neighborhood and passing along a route of about two kilometers on Paulus VI Street, and groups of scouts from all religions, institutions, clubs, associations, children with disabilities, school and special education students march in it as well Also the mayor, religious leaders and many dignitaries, and a large number of decorated vehicles.
