Allete (NYSE: ALE) is a investor-owned rate-regulated company based in Duluth, Minnesota, that generates, transmits and distributes electricity in the United States. It is a member component of the S&P 400.

It is compromised of Minnesota Power, an electric utility that is rate-regulated by the Minnesota Public Utility Commission and Superior Light, Power, and Water, an electric utility that operates in Northwest Wisconsin and is rate-regulated by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC), among other ventures that are independent power producers.

In August 2024, it was announced that the Canadian Public Pension Investment Board (CPPIB) intended to acquire the electric utility.
